The Stolen Grace is a magical story about how a treasure hunt leads Leila Rose between worlds to discover the real jewels of life through her and her family’s life cycle. She travels on what Carl Jung calls a soulful journey towards the discovery of the Self. This book is a story written in fairytale fashion, but it can also be viewed as a “political fable” through metaphors. It is based on images discovered in a triptych artwork. The intention of the author is to pass on wisdom to the author’s grandchildren. This story brings in a more feminine version of viewing dragons as magical and shedding light on the world. It differs from the Patriarchal perspective in fairytales of the past in which maturity is based on “slaying the dragon” to attain manhood, which leaves a feminine perspective out. It leads to how Leila Rose joins with Modern Warrior to begin their search together for the soul of the earth reflected in the “Big Eye Cave”. That is where the Grace stolen from the world stage was found. Discovering the hidden depth of the images in this book provides useful metaphors for the journeys we each experience in our lifetime. A study guide is included for further exploration.

This book is the magical tale of Leila Rose and her swan Grace, combined with beautiful artwork by artist Rose Littau.
The chapters are relatively short and very enjoyable, making it a great coffee table book and a nice present for a friend.
I found the questions on the Guide at the end of the book quite helpful to reach a deeper level of understanding and appreciation of the story.

I edited the book, so must admit some bias, but I do think it is a delightful book and well worth the reading.
I believe that it is Rose's art that captivates and entices me to enter, read, and journey into the depths with "Leila Rose." I feel the soul of the author as she leads us and shows us the mystery of life that is right in front of our eyes! Her play on words made me giggle with childlike delight. This is a wonderful fairytale book for both children and adults to read over and over again!
A beautiful story that demonstrates the healing power of practicing active imagination. In a work of art that is reminiscent of Jung's The Red Book, Littau masterfully illustrates how one can learn so much about what is both within and with"out" them by following the wisdom of the imagination. It is both a lovely tale and a "how to" manual for anyone seeking a path towards the depths of the soul.
